IRATA rope access, level 1 is Beyond just height work
Mastering working at heights is a good start, but there is so much more to learn. Learning about working in confined spaces, for example, is a necessary skill for many jobs requiring IRATA qualifications.
First aid skills are also essential, and we have a unit that covers all the fundamentals of first aid, including basic anatomy and physiology. When you are working at heights, if somebody is injured, you can’t simply wait for help to arrive. You need to act quickly, bearing in mind how difficult it is for emergency personnel to reach you.
Next up, you should know how to use open circuit breathing apparatus, so of course we will teach you everything you need to know about this too. There’s an entire study unit dedicated just to this topic because it is so important. There are many situations you could be in where you will need to depend on this apparatus to keep you alive.
Finally, even if you are not going to be working in search and rescue related occupations, having the skills that are used in rescue operations will help you in all kinds of ways beyond just the obvious. We have multiple units that cover various rescue techniques, giving you a fully comprehensive knowledge of how to apply your rope access skills in rescue situations.

What awaits beyond the Level 1 rope access course?
Having just completed your first major training course to reach the IRATA Level 1 qualification, it would be natural to contemplate your next move.
You could actually get started in a career right away, as you’ll already meet the minimum competency levels. But as an extraordinary enough individual to have started on this training path in the first place, we know it is unlikely that you’d feel satisfied with being minimally competent. Fortunately, there are more levels for you to conquer, and with each one you’ll be moving up in prestige and ability.
Always make Level 1 the foundation of your training efforts
It is important to start out from the beginning. There’s no point in trying to fast track your way through the levels (an exception might be if you qualify for Recognition of Prior Learning through previous military or police training that already covered significant portions of some of those more basic classes).
If you try to move up too quickly, it is then possible for you to miss important information that could be critical to your chances of success later on. Remember that this course is designed to provide you with skills in a step by step fashion, with new skills being layered upon the skills you’ve learned previously.
Having the support of our expert instructors is definitely a big help in this. You should take full advantage of the opportunity, because there is nothing worse in this world than wasted time. Your time is a precious commodity, and if you can appreciate that, you’ll be ready to put your best foot forward.
After completing all the Level 1 criteria, the only way to go is up. Level 2 awaits, or you can use what you’ve already learned to transition into a new job role. Of course there’s no reason why you can’t start working and simultaneously participate in further training.
Completing your IRATA course in Sydney is an achievable goal
Nothing can stop you achieving your goal except yourself. If you really want to succeed, you will find the way, whatever it takes. Our training gets you ready for working in some of the most difficult occupational environments that exist. It’s valuable training that helps you develop your personal attributes, overcome self-imposed limitations, and set up the foundation for what is likely to be a rewarding future career.
It may sound difficult, and that’s because it is. You’re not the type to shy away from a challenge, right? But you are not doing this alone. With the help of your instructors and your fellow students, you have no reason to doubt you can make it through this course and beyond.
